The Home Office generally can take up to 6 months on average to get back with a decision for a Visa or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) application. If you would like – or need – a faster decision, you may be able to apply for a priority or super priority service for ILR.
Getting a faster decision with ILR priority services
You may be eligible for priority services if you are applying for ILR within the UK. Priority services would allow you to receive a decision within 5 working days, provided your type of application is eligible and you are able to prove your identity.
You can do so by either attending an appointment in person at a UK Visa and Citizen Application Services (UKVCAS) centre, or by using the UK Immigration: ID Check application if applicable.
There are a limited number of applications available for the priority service, after which you would need to fill a standard application.
Please note that if you have dependants who need to have their biometric information taken, the decision may take longer than 5 working days.
Super priority services for ILR
If you require an even faster decision, you may be able to apply for the super priority service, where the Home Office would get back to you the next working day. All types of applications are currently eligible for this type of service, but similarly to the priority one, there is a limited number of applications per day.
How much do ILR priority services cost?
Applying for ILR with a priority or super priority service will incur an additional fee on top of the ILR application cost:
- £500 for the priority service (5 working days)
- £800 for the super priority service (next working day)
If you have dependants applying with you, you will need to pay the additional application fee for each family member. You will receive a decision for you and your family at the same time.
